I purchased this GPS for my husband after trying to look at maps while on vacation this past summer. By the time I get my reading glasses out, find the right page of the map and look for an alternate route I realized we needed a GPS system. We have only experimented locally but are happy with it so far. It adjusted when I went a different route and recalculated on it’s own so I don’t have to worry about pushing buttons while driving. I wish the screen was larger but I probably shouldn’t be looking at that while driving anyway!

I bought this product for my Nissan Altima because there is just no place to mount a GPS in that car. This product worked very well on the sloping dash of the Altima. It has a small hook that mounts to the dash as an option if you need more holding power. The problem with most touch screen devices mounted on the dash is that they are hard to reach even for a 6 foot tall man. This helps, but still has the GPS out of reach for my wife.

This base certainly makes using the Tom Tom a lot easier. A couple of issues with the unit, the eyelet sewn at the back of the base and its associated hook. The reason I purchased this item, was my car was broken into due to the ring left by the suction cup on the windscreen. That is now to be replaced by a fixed visible hook, if used thieves will certainly notice this transition. I have a 720 and the provided suction cup mount has to be fitted forward on the mount due to the overhang of the screen – maybe Tom Tom could increase the height of the supplied suction mount to negate this problem.
