I’m a college counselor who has worked with hundreds of students as they apply for college scholarships. Scholarships 101 is the best book I’ve read on the topic of college scholarship applications.

Many students (and parents) think that the way to win scholarships is to apply willy-nilly to MORE scholarships. In truth, the best way to win scholarships is to apply for the RIGHT scholarships. In Scholarships 101, Kimberly Stezala provides a step-by-step plan to help students identify their personal strengths and dreams, and then match themselves to the right scholarships.

If you’re merely looking for a long list of scholarships, there are plenty of websites and books out there. But if you’re looking for advice about how to boost your chances of having a scholarship committee choose YOU, buy this book. Not only is Kimberly Stezala “the Scholarship Lady,” she’s the Queen of Scholarship Know-How.

By the way, I recently interviewed Kimberly Stezala for my blog on college admissions. [...]

Although I thought the book had ideas on the basics, it failed to deliver the actual resources/websites, etc. needed. FastWeb as she recommends is like finding the needle (Scholarship) in the haystack. She indicates she founded Wisconsin’s first online scholarship database but shared no specifics of this info. Sorry I purchased the book.
