Everything about the jbuds looks good.Personally I totally like the appeal of the ONYX ( Deep Black) colour of the Ear-phones. I tested these on the Classic Ipod 120 GIG( Mine is Black too), a new version with the latest software release for its version ( I bought the IPOD less than 3 months back).I put the JBUDS up against my regular KOSS ear-buds.

After a week of trying them out, the jbuds performed great on mid-range and high tones.The inserts that went over the small “speakers” made the feel comfortable, but up against the KOSS it is still not as comfortable.It was and is Comfortable(generally), but where it exceeds is in stopping exterior sound,noise reduction. For the most part, the JBUDS go great with Audio Books, and Podcasts, since the lower end of the sound spectrum is not exactly a key part of what you hear.However, the Bass is not there; in music, Podcasts, and in sounds that the IPOD Classic

exceeds at in Quality, I know that I can place my IPOD in my PC, my Work Docking Station, and the sound includes all components. I suspect that in safety they have erred on the side of caution and reduced bass output, a compromise that I don’t think will thrill a lot of IPOD users who enjoy music with a lot of Bass.If JLAB could fix the Bass problem, I think they could have a great product.

These headphones are better quality earbud-style headphones. The sound quality is better than most earbuds that I have used, although I think these sound hallow in the midrange frequencies and require me to modify my EQ to get the sound curve I prefer. They offer decent bass, but not thumping bass, and I don’t believe the low-end frequency claim of 20 Hz.

These are “noise-isolating” earbuds, which shouldn’t be confused with noise-cancelling headphones. These earbuds achieve their noise-isolation by cutting off outside sounds by fitting inside your ear canal like ear plugs. The package contains three different endcap sizes. Personally, I need to use the smallest size and still feel that they are a bit too tight. Once you twist these gently into your ear, however, you’ll notice how much noise they actually eliminate. In the office, I can’t hear the constant churn of the ventilation system. Once I turn on the music, I can barely hear anything else outside of the music. These earbuds effectively eliminate the outside world.

From a comfort perspective, keep in mind that these fit inside your ear, directly in the ear canal, like “ear plugs”. When I first put them in, it takes a minute or two for me to adjust to the feeling. There is also always a slight pressure, and sometimes after extended periods I get a sensation like my ears are “popping”. However, I’ve worn these for five to six hours at a time without any serious discomfort. They rarely pop out and I only have to adjust them two or three times during extended listening sessions.

They appear to be well-designed with quality materials that should not result in wire kinks or breaks if handled correctly. The earbuds’ endcaps will require care/cleaning over time, and you need to make sure that you don’t lose the endcap attachments, especially if you rely on the smallest or largest set. But if you’re looking for decent quality and want to reduce outside noise as you listen to music or other audio, these are a decent investment.

The JBud earphones are clear, and the sound quality is not bad. These are the type of earbuds that you wedge into your ear canal, not the kind that rest there. Wedging them in your ear is not as uncomfortable as it may sound and they have included three different sizes of the rubber to be sure it fits well. I listened to both music and lectures/audiobook/podcasts while reviewing the product.

The downsides to the product are that they can’t get that loud, it falls out of your ear anytime the cords gently snag on anything, and the bass is too soft. The Amazon price for the JBud J2 is three times that of the sony earbud’s I’ve been buying for years and the sound quality is not as good as those either. With those things in mind I cannot recommend the product for the price range that it is in. Even if it were ten dollars, I would still buy the Sony earbuds over this.

I will also add, that after following the recommendations of the manufacturer (as sent to me in the comments section) and “warming” them up for twenty four hours I did notice an improvement in the sound quality. There is a great deal of clarity in these headphones. Also after wedging them into my ear more deeply and twisting as some of the other reviewers recommended they were less prone to falling out, although they still fall out more frequently than I’d like anytime they are lightly snagged. I stand by the bass and max volume being too soft. However, with the increase in sound quality after the warming up phase I would bump my review to a three star (but Amazon won’t let me). They are not bad for Amazon’s price of twenty-five, I would never buy these for the list price.
