I’ve lost track of how many hours I’ve played this game, and how many times I’ve downloaded and redownloaded it. I was disappointed when the last time I tried to download it from [...], I discovered it was no longer available. I’d purchased it from [...]. Imagine my relief when I discovered that it was still available from http://www.Amazon.com!
Of all the electronic Chess games I’ve played, and I’ve played about a half dozen, this is the only I one I even bother to play anymore. (My all time favorite is ChessMates, but I haven’t been able to get a computer to install and play it since I started using Windows XP.)
The main reason I like this version is the look and feel of it. It has a 3D board you can virtually grab, tilt and rotate until it’s at an angle which suits me. The sound effects are realistic. Another thing I like is that this game lets me play a wide variety of artificially intelligent opponents, and maintain a ranking among them which changes with each win, loss and stalemate. These cyber opponents range from a chimpanzee, whose style in random, to opponents many levels above my onw.
There’s also a training mode, which lets you select how much or how little help you want, such as showing you where a selected piece can move, and spaces your opponent controls.
This is perhaps the best electronic Chess game available for Windows 98 or XP.

I bought this after a very disappointing experience with grandmaster chess tournament. It’s a well written code with a very user friendly interface, a good number of puzzles and lots of supporting material. I highly recommend this product.
