I recently read about Her Interactive and decided to try a game. It’s been awhile since my pre-children gamer days and it sounded like fun. I chose the Crystal Skull and, although it was fun, having to walk around over and over got a bit, well, boring. And I couldn’t have made it through without an online walkthrough. Next up I decided to try this game and I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed everything about it – from the storyline, to the animation, to the artwork, to the puzzles. Really, really fun. There were a few repetitive things (I could live without giving another facial) but all in all really fun. Really got me through some down time in the hospital after some surgery. Well worth the minimal money I spent. I’m really looking forward to trying out more of the Dossier style games. Great job Her Interactive!

This was my first Nancy Drew game and it was lots of fun. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to remember whatever I had to but it worked out great until the time for the statues in the garden. That was tedious and frustrating.

I have played a lot of the Nancy Drew games lately. This one was the best so far. I enjoyed the shorter length frankly. Sometimes her games go on way too long and get tedious.

This one wasn’t bad. The only thing I did get a little annoyed at was toward the end with the statues in the garden. Everything else was great. Nothing too tough, by the end you should now how to defuse a bomb and/or give facials in case that ever comes up.

The entire game only takes about 3-4 hours to play which was really my main disappointment with this purchase. However, I paid over twenty dollars to buy this on CD. Now, you can purchase it for less then seven dollars as a video download on Amazon — and then it is a bargain. This is a new format for HER Interactive. It eliminates many of the aspects of the other Nancy Drew games that I find frustrating/boring. The dialog is snappier and there is much less of it. You spend less time navigating Nancy from location to location. There are plenty of mini games and the hidden object component is fun. The objects are very easy to find as your curser glows and sparkles as you pass over (or get close to) an object. Some of the mini games are repetitive although they do get more challenging as you progress through the game. If I was able to change the game, I would make it longer and add more puzzles and perhaps make it more challenging. I was able to complete the entire game easily without resorting to the Internet for hints. I would definitely buy more in this series if they were available as inexpensive video downloads.
